FIFA president Gianni Infantino remarked during his unopposed reelection press conference that FIFA is working on a game that will compete with EA Sports FC.
Following the ‘divorce’ between FIFA and EA, both organizations have now confirmed that each intend to move on with their own football game. EA is set to release the new EA Sports FC franchise later this year, while FIFA is bound to continue the FIFA series with a new “egame” – whatever that means.
According to Times reporter Martyn Ziegler, Infantino stated the following: “The new FIFA game – the FIFA 25, 26, 27 and so on – will always be the best egame for any girl or boy, we will have news on this very soon.”
Reactions to his comment were immediate, and fans didn’t hold back as you can see from the next tweets:

Creating a football game from scratch takes a lot of time, effort and money, however FIFA may rely on other game developers in order to release a decent competitor to EA Sports FC.
On the other hand, EA has reportedly sealed a new commercial deal worth £488m ($522 million) with Premier League that will see the league accurately represented in EA’s next football game franchise for the next 6 years. Other licenses owned by EA include UEFA Champions League, CONMEBOL Libertadores, LaLiga, Bundesliga, Serie A or MLS.
Whatever the future reserves for FIFA in terms of gaming, fans are eagerly awaiting the release of EA Sports FC that will continue to deliver the most authentic football simulator on the market.
