First FUT World Cup Promo LIVE in FIFA 23

It has been a long wait – but the first World Cup promo in FUT 23 is finally LIVE. From Swap Tokens to Path to Glory, there’s a lot of content to cover and without further ado, let’s take a dive into what EA Sports has in store for us.

Path to Glory

To celebrate every nation‘s progress in the 2022 FIFA World Cup, EA is releasing LIVE Path to Glory cards. Each Path to Glory item will feature one player from each of the 32 nations that have qualified for the 2022 World Cup and will receive an upgrade every time their team advances through the tournament.

Let’s have a breakdown of the promotion’s upgrade path:

  • Qualify From Group Stages: +1 IF Upgrade
  • Win Round of 16: +1 IF Upgrade
  • Win Quarter Finals: 5* Weak Foot Upgrade
  • Win Semi Finals: 5* Skill Moves Upgrade
  • Win the Final: +1 IF Upgrade and 3 New Traits

If the team of a Path to Glory player whose base card has either 5 star weak foot or skill move advances to the Final, he will get an additional IF Upgrade instead.

World Cup Swaps

As previously announced, the first batch of World Cup Swaps Tokens is now available in FIFA 23 Ultimate Team. Similar to Icon Swaps in previous years, you can collect up to a maximum of 50 World Cup Swaps which can be redeemed for various Players, Picks or Player Packs.

The first World Cup Swaps token can be earned by logging into FUT before December 24. Two of the 50 FIFA World Cup Swaps tokens will be available in the Season 2 Rewards Ladder. Most of the remaining FIFA World Cup Swaps tokens will be available to earn by using Limited Time FIFA World Cup Player items to complete Offline and Online Objectives.

All 21 new Heroes that made their way into FIFA Ultimate Team 23 and a few other old Heroes will receive a special World Cup Card to commemorate their past World Cup performances. The first set of FIFA World Cup Heroes are now in packs and include:

Moreover, you can unlock FIFA World Cup Hero Robbie Keane via a Squad Building Challenge.

Some of the FUT 23 ICONs will also get a special World Cup card which will have a rating between their Mid and Prime cards. The first two World Cup ICONs (Cafu & Vieira) are already available as Swaps rewards. Most of the remaining FIFA World Cup ICONs will be released across two team releases starting Friday, November 25.

FIFA World Cup History Makers

If you play FIFA 23 by January 3 you can earn a loan ICON or loan FUT Hero for 7 matches, and a special untradeable FIFA World Cup History Makers player from the same country whose will receive two upgrades: once in January and once in February.

  • Robin van Persie and Virgil van Dijk – Netherlands
  • Diego Forlán and Federico Valverde – Uruguay
  • Luís Figo and João Félix – Portugal

World Cup Player Items – Gotta Catch em All

In addition to all the above mentioned players, if you can gather 750 World Cup Player Items (6 of them are granted when you login to FUT and select a nationality), you could earn up to 10 levels of rewards. Most of the Individual Rewards are mediocre at best, so it recommended that you do not waste your resources to collect these Player Items specifically.
