Which Champions League RTTF Card Will Go All the Way to Istanbul?

The real-life 2022/23 UEFA Champions League campaign has reached its quarterfinal stage, and that means that we must say goodbye to eight teams.

But it isn’t just the teams we say goodbye to, the eight respective players that received a Road Through The Knockouts special card from EA Sports will also see no further upgrades thanks to their club’s elimination from the real-life tournament. Oddschecker, which compares European football odds and offers, currently makes Manchester City the favourites to lift the famous trophy this season, but which player from the club received an RTTF card?

Of course, that was the English defensive midfielder, Kalvin Phillips. Thanks to his side’s progression past RB Leipzig, his special card will now receive an upgrade, as will five other players.

However, for the special cards of Roberto Firmino, Lucas Moura, Donyell Malen, Emil Forsberg, Nuno Mendes, and Tuta, the show is now over. Here are two RTF cards that we feel could go all the way by winning the Champions League this season and receiving the maximum possible upgrade.

Kalvin Phillips

As mentioned above, Manchester City are the favourites for the Champions League this season, and with good reason. Erling Haaland netted an incredible five goals in the 7-0 drubbing of RB Leipzig in the second leg of their round-of-sixteen tie.

Pep Guardiola’s side has quality all over the park, and surely this season will be the one where the Blues finally break their European curse. If that is to be the case, then Kalvin Phillips’ RTTF card stands to be in for a mega upgrade which could potentially make it one of the best central midfield cards in the entire game.

David Alaba

Real Madrid are the current reigning European champions. Their 1-0 victory against Liverpool in Paris last June gave the side from the Spanish capital their 14th European title, and they met the Reds in the round-of-sixteen this season.

However, Los Blancos ran out comfortable 6-2 aggregate winners, and they now progress to the quarterfinals. Last season, they beat Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea, and Manchester City en route to the trophy, and they will feel they can perform similar heroics this year.

Much of their success has been built on a back line consisting of Antonio Rüdiger and David Alaba, and the latter of those two was the Real Madrid player chosen by EA Sports to receive a Road to the Final card. His stats are already scary, and the further Carlo Ancelotti’s side progresses in the tournament, the more formidable Alaba’s card will become.

Giacomo Raspadori

Napoli is arguably the most in-form team in Europe at the moment. Sitting at the top of Serie A table with a 19-points advantage over Lazio, the Neapolitans also qualified for the Champions Leagues Quarter-Finals after defeating Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt 5 – 0 on aggregate.

Most of Napoli’s success this season is due to the formidable duo made of Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Victor Osimhen that amazed Europe with their skills and numbers. Another key player in Napoli’s campaign is Giacomo Raspadori that managed 4 goals and 2 assists in 5 Champions League matches.

In the next phase of the competition, Napoli will face fellow Italian giants, AC Milan and the ‘The Blues’ are favourites to reach the Semi-Finals where they could meet the winner between SL Benfica and Inter Milan.

If they manage to reach the Final and why not, lift the glorious trophy, Giacomo’s Raspadori’s RTTF card will become of the most wanted items in FIFA 23.
