FC 25 Shapeshifters Promo: All You Need To Know

After weeks of TOTS content, EA Sports has brought back one of Ultimate Team’s most unique promos, Shapeshifters. Returning in FC 25 with even more surprises than in previous years, the promo is bound to bring a lot of excitement to the game.

This year’s Shapeshifters once again flips the script by giving players out-of-position items, strong stat upgrades, new PlayStyles and Roles, and special chemistry boosts similar to what we saw in Globetrotters. But unlike TOTS, which focused on seasonal performance, Shapeshifters is all about shaking up the meta and adding some unpredictability to squad building and gameplay.

Let’s break down what’s included in both squads, how Evolutions play into this promo, and what kind of changes are reshaping Ultimate Team this summer.

What Is the Shapeshifters Promo in FC 25?

The Shapeshifters promo is known for transforming players into roles they rarely or never play in real life. A classic example from this year is Liverpool’s Ibrahima Konaté, who has been reimagined as a goalkeeper, while Bayern’s Harry Kane now plays as a central midfielder. These aren’t just novelty cards either.

With huge boosts and tailored PlayStyles, many of these players are fully viable in FUT Champs and Division Rivals. In FC 25, Shapeshifters also includes Icons and Heroes, all reworked with new positions and traits. The promo also aligns with Season 8: Shapeshifters, meaning you’ll find themed objectives, SBCs, and Evolutions tied to this campaign throughout the month.

Shapeshifters Team 1

The first Shapeshifters team set the tone for the promo, bringing back fan-favorite names with some of the most dramatic positional changes yet. It featured a total of 27 players, including four Icons and three Heroes.

Many of these cards were given four PlayStyle+ traits, but none in Team 1 received the newly teased five PlayStyle Plus traits. Here’s the full squad:

  • RW: Diego Maradona (Shapeshifters Icon) – 98 OVR
  • ST: Patrick Vieira (Shapeshifters Icon) – 97 OVR
  • CM: Mia Hamm (Shapeshifters Icon) – 97 OVR
  • CDM: Cafu (Shapeshifters Icon) – 96 OVR
  • GK: Vincent Kompany (Shapeshifters Hero) – 95 OVR
  • CDM: Jay-Jay Okocha (Shapeshifters Hero) – 95 OVR
  • LW: Diego Milito (Shapeshifters Hero) – 94 OVR
  • CM: Harry Kane (Bayern Munich) – 98 OVR
  • GK Ibrahima Konate (Liverpool) – 98 OVR
  • CAM: Antoine Griezmann (Atletico Madrid) – 98 OVR
  • CM: Marcus Rashford (Aston Villa) – 97 OVR
  • LW: Martin Odegaard (Arsenal) – 97 OVR
  • CB: Romelu Lukaku (Inter) – 97 OVR
  • ST: Michael Olise (Bayern Munich) – 97 OVR
  • CM: Marco Reus (LA Galaxy) – 97 OVR
  • RB: Mallory Swanson (Chicago Red Stars) – 96 OVR
  • CB: Giorgi Mamardashvili (Valencia) – 96 OVR
  • CAM: Endrick (Real Madrid) – 96 OVR
  • CAM: Kadiditou Diani (Lyon Women) – 96 OVR
  • ST: Klara Buhl (Bayern Munich Women) – 96 OVR
  • ST: Nico Schlotterbeck (Borussia Dortmund) – 95 OVR
  • CM: Mapi Leon (Barcelona Women) – 95 OVR
  • CDM: Naomi Girma (Chelsea Women) – 95 OVR
  • ST: Francesco Acerbi (Inter) – 95 OVR
  • LW: Nordi Mukiele (Bayer Leverkusen) – 94 OVR
  • RB: Kristin Kogel (Bayer Leverkusen Women) – 94 OVR
  • RW: Sara Holmgaard (Everton Women) – 94 OVR

The Team 1 drop also kicked off a wave of SBCs and Objectives, including additional Shapeshifters Icons and Heroes. Players like Diego Milito and Jay-Jay Okocha received special versions outside of the main squad via those methods.

Some of these items are expected to be extremely rare in packs or fetch massive prices on the transfer market. Not everyone has the time or coin balance to grind through objectives, trade effectively, or test their luck with packs. That’s why some players turn to the market, trading methods, or even look to buy ea fc 25 coins to afford the players they want and stay competitive in the current meta.

Shapeshifters Team 2

Shapeshifters Team 2 continued the theme of radical experimentation. This squad featured even more bold changes and officially introduced the first player in FC 25 with five PlayStyle+ traits with none other than Shapeshifters Icon Johan Cruyff.

While Team 1 had no five-PlayStyle+ players, Team 2 includes multiple options with this feature, signaling a late-game shift in power level. Other standout names like Ronaldinho, Rodri, Putellas, and Scott McTominay received position swaps and stat upgrades that drastically alter their role on the pitch.

Here is how the full team lines up:

  • LM: Johan Cruyff (Shapeshifters Icon) – 98 OVR (Five PlayStyles+)
  • CB: Rodri (Manchester City) – 98 OVR
  • ST: Alexia Putellas (Barcelona Women) – 98 OVR
  • ST: Scott McTominay (Napoli) – 98 OVR
  • ST: Ronaldinho (Shapeshifters Icon) – 97 OVR (Five PlayStyles+)
  • CAM: Bukayo Saka (Arsenal) – 97 OVR
  • CM: Lautaro Martinez (Inter) – 97 OVR
  • CM: Alexander Isak (Newcastle United) – 97 OVR
  • ST: Federico Valverde (Real Madrid) – 96 OVR
  • CDM: Theo Hernandez (Milan) – 96 OVR
  • CAM: Wendie Renard (Lyon Women) – 96 OVR
  • CAM: Mary Earps (Manchester United Women) – 96 OVR

  • LW: Eve Périsset (Chelsea Women) – 94 OVR
  • CM: Bobby Charlton (Shapeshifters Icon) – 96 OVR
  • RW: Steven Gerrard (Shapeshifters Icon) – 95 OVR
  • ST: Eden Hazard (Shapeshifters Hero) – 96 OVR
  • RW: Wesley Sneijder (Shapeshifters Hero) – 95 OVR
  • LB: Saeed Al Owairan (Shapeshifters Hero) – 95 OVR

Team 2 also introduced some of the most creative selections yet, including Petr Čech as a CAM (available via SBC), and Steven Gerrard as a right winger. More cards are accessible through Objectives and puzzle SBCs, encouraging players to explore different content types throughout the promo.

The promo also features a new Shapeshifters Cup, along with Evolutions and SBCs designed around these unique players.

New Evolutions: FUTTIES Countdown, El Buitre, and Gloves to Goals

Alongside the Team 2 launch, EA introduced three new premium Evolutions:

  • FUTTIES Countdown: Available via the companion app, this EVO gives +3 OVR to any eligible player, along with significant boosts to pace, dribbling, and shooting. It also adds Finesse Shot+, Low Driven Shot+, and more.
  • El Buitre: A special EVO tied to 94-rated Shapeshifters Icon Emilio Butragueño, available only by completing his dedicated objective set. This upgrade includes extra positions (LW and CAM), Roles++, and a suite of advanced PlayStyles.
  • Gloves to Goals: This unique evolution turns Icons like Lev Yashin or Petr Čech into offensive players by unlocking striker, winger, and playmaker roles. It adds new stats, agility boosts, and goal-scoring traits.

While these evolutions aren’t cheap, they offer highly customizable upgrades that cater to different team styles.

Shapeshifters Chemistry Boosts and Roles

Similar to past promos like Globetrotters, the Shapeshifters items often come with special chemistry links and Roles++ that make them more flexible in squad building. These boosts help integrate out-of-position players into hybrid teams without the usual chemistry penalties.

Players with the Role++ tag can fill multiple tactical roles in-game, such as Classic 10, Shadow Striker, or Inside Forward. This adds a strategic layer when deciding who to upgrade via Evolutions or SBCs.

Women’s Euros Path to Glory & More

Although not directly part of Shapeshifters, EA is also celebrating the UEFA Women’s Euro 2025 with a Path to Glory promo running concurrently. These cards evolve based on real tournament progress and feature their own chemistry and upgrade system. Expect these to continue into the FUTTIES campaign in July.

The return of Shapeshifters in FC 25 feels like a proper mid-year shakeup after the lengthy TOTS period. By introducing unusual position changes, five PlayStyle+ Icons, and advanced Evolutions, EA has given players new ways to approach gameplay and squad building.
