Everyone enjoys playing with players that has a real face aka starhead in FIFA, either you’re a Career Mode or Ultimate Team fan, having players that look like the real life players always adds to the realism and experience of the game.
In this post we will list players that had real faces in previous FIFA editions but for unknown reasons they never made a comeback in FIFA 21. Before moving on you need to remember that there are three types of player face models in FIFA: generic, custom and scanned.
The generic faces are those faces that usually give a basic resemblance of the real life players and are created from pre-made 3d assets and textures ranging from head models to hairstyles; this type of faces are applied to most players in-game. The custom faces are manually designed by 3d artists using picture references of the players while the scanned faces are captured via a 360° head photoshoot of the players that result in an instant and accurate 3d face model of the players.
The list of players that we will present, thanks to the help of @MateoGzl10, has a mix of custom and scanned faces that EA Sports unfortunately decided to remove even though the players are present in FIFA 21.
