The 5 Greatest English Footballers of the Last Decade who can be Found in FC 24

FC 24’s Ultimate Team gives us the opportunity to build fantasy squads that we may never have otherwise seen, and to find players who have been selected as icons of the game, seeing how they perform and if they can propel our Ultimate Team to glory.

When you look through the current football fixtures in the UK, you will see some amazing teams with some top players, but the current crop of English stars are relatively young if we look at the likes of Phil Foden, while others like Jude Bellingham and Harry Kane are now playing abroad.

FC 24 allows us to tweak and change the rules a little bit as we delve into icons who are no longer playing. In this guide, we’re looking at some of the players who can be found in Ultimate Team who are great for putting in your team on FC 24 – if you can get your hands on them.

Wayne Rooney

Rooney could do it all, and though he might be one of the more expensive cards to get your hands on in Ultimate Team, the striker can be a real asset. This card is based on Rooney’s prime when the striker had some unbelievable spells of scoring goal after goal, as well as dropping deep to get involved in the play, something else he did exceptionally well.

Rooney was a prodigy, and it is easy to forget that his career actually ended relatively early compared to some people like Ronaldo, who is still playing today. Luckily, you can roll back the years and get him in your Ultimate Team. Rooney’s top skills include finishing and his physical strength, which can prove tricky for any defence.

Frank Lampard

Lampard was one of the ultimate goalscoring midfielders. He had that habit of arriving late into the box, and he is the highest-scoring midfielder in the history of the Premier League, with 177 goals in total.

Play him as an attacking midfielder and take advantage of his long shots as well as his excellent movement – he’s guaranteed to get goals.

Ashley Cole

Ashley Cole was seen by many as one of the last in a dying breed of full-backs who focused on defending first. Famously, he put in many performances in Chelsea’s title-winning teams, as well as Champions League successes where he nullified the threats of some of the best wingers in the world.

Cole is not the marauding wing-back type, but his amazing defensive abilities made him one of the best English footballers in the game.

Steven Gerrard

Gerrard had the capability to win games on his own. The lack of domestic titles he managed is not necessarily down to him, if we ignore one specific slip. His career may not have glistened with the silverware of some of the other players on this list, and we know none of them managed to win anything with England, but Gerrard’s abilities are incredible.

He can basically play any role in midfield, and has the athleticism to go box-to-box, making play as well as being a goal threat with some exceptional distance shooting. Gerrard’s abilities are up there with most modern midfielders, and he’s a top choice in FC 24.

Rio Ferdinand

Rio Ferdinand may be seen more often commentating or offering his punditry on games, but he’s still on FC 24 as a player, and is one of the top defenders on there.

The saying “Rolls Royce of a defender” comes to mind. Rio could play with the ball at his feet, as well as being great as a last-ditch defender and an aerial stalwart, clearing long balls even in an era when he was up against the likes of Peter Crouch.

Ferdinand won it all with Manchester United and is an amazing presence to put in the back of your Ultimate Team, combining well with other English players or Manchester United teammates of the time, if you are able to pick them up too.

Summary

Though we know what challenges England have faced on the international level in recent decades, their club footballers have been exceptional, and the country has produced some of the very best.

If you have an Ultimate Team with a focus on English players, then picking up some of these legends’ cards can be a good way to make sure that you have a competitive team and get to see some of these England greats in all their glory once again.
