FC 25 Ultimate Team: New Heroes Revealed

With FC 25 just around the corner, EA Sports has confirmed the addition of 13 new Heroes in Ultimate Team.

This year’s theme, “Hero Origins” allows these players to start with an Origin Hero card that can evolve into a Prime Hero, reflecting their real-world career progressions. The idea is to bring in a mix of legendary players who’ve made their mark on the game, from different leagues and eras.

New Heroes in FC 25 Ultimate Team

One of the most anticipated additions is Eden Hazard, remembered for his standout years at Chelsea and Real Madrid. Maicon, the Brazilian right-back who shone at Inter Milan, also joins the roster. Other notable names include Jaap Stam, a defensive rock during his Manchester United days, and Tim Howard, a fan-favorite goalkeeper from the Premier League.

Women’s football continues to gain representation in Ultimate Team as well, with Celia Sasic, Fara Williams and Laura Georges being introduced as Heroes.

Here’s a breakdown of the new Heroes and their ratings:

  • Celia Sasic: 88 OVR > 91 OVR
  • Eden Hazard: 86 OVR > 90 OVR
  • Maicon: 86 OVR > 90 OVR
  • Ze Roberto: 86 OVR > 89 OVR
  • Jaap Stam: 85 OVR > 89 OVR
  • Tim Howard: 85 OVR > 89 OVR
  • Marek Hamsik: 85 OVR > 89 OVR
  • Laura Georges: 85 OVR > 89 OVR
  • Jamie Carragher: 86 OVR > 88 OVR
  • Guti: 86 OVR > 88 OVR
  • Fara Williams: 86 OVR > 88 OVR
  • Blaise Matuidi: 85 OVR > 88 OVR
  • Mohamed Noor: 85 OVR > 88 OVR

Fans of Yaya Touré will also be pleased to see him return as a “Returning Hero.” Although he’s already part of FC 24, this time, his Origin card will have a slight drop in rating (-2 OVR), but that shouldn’t stop him from being a popular pick.

FC 25 Ultimate Team: New Features You Should Know

Alongside the new Heroes, EA Sports is making some notable changes to FC 25 Ultimate Team, particularly after years of criticism where some players accused the developer of turning the mode into an online casino with its loot box mechanics.

In response, the latest installment introduces a few tweaks that aim to refocus the experience on gameplay rather than random luck giving more opportunities to win big rewards by simply playing the game. Here are some of the key updates:

  • Ultimate Team Rush: This new game mode focuses on 5v5 matches where you control only one player, with AI handling the goalkeepers. Earning Rush Points here is key to completing objectives and grabbing rewards.
  • FC IQ Tactical System: The tactical setup in Ultimate Team has been overhauled. You can now use Manager Presets based on real-world tactics and assign specific roles to players. Positions like CF and LWB/RWB have been removed, along with some formations, making team setups more streamlined.
  • Enhanced Evolutions: The Evolutions feature is back with more customization. You can now visually upgrade player cards and evolve your favorite players more often, even if they’ve hit attribute limits.
  • General Improvements: You can now store up to 100 untradeable duplicate players, and contracts have been removed altogether. Points-based rewards in Rivals, fewer checkpoints in progression, and form-based matchmaking in Live Friendlies are also part of the updates.
  • New Stadium and Match Experience: A new customizable stadium and enhanced match presentation features are coming. Expect better broadcast sequences and more immersive pre-match cinematics that highlight key players and tactical setups.
