FC 25 Season 8: Shapeshifters Take Over as the Final Season Begins

EA SPORTS FC 25 has entered its final stretch with the launch of Season 8, bringing fresh content across Ultimate Team, Career Mode, and Clubs. The new season kicked off on Thursday, June 5, and runs for five weeks, ending on Thursday, July 10.

Unlike previous seasons that ran for six weeks, this one is slightly shorter, but there’s still plenty to grind, especially for those eyeing the new Premium Pass.

Shapeshifters Are Front and Center

Season 8 is heavily themed around the Shapeshifters promo, continuing EA’s tradition of turning familiar players into new versions with surprising positions, boosted stats, and unique playstyles. Players like Alexis Sánchez, Pedro, Tonali, and Jack Grealish feature in new roles, offering variety for squads and lineups heading into the final weeks of the cycle.

As always, choosing where to invest your coins or FC Points is part of the game, and some players take that mindset beyond Ultimate Team, looking into things like pari promo codes or other strategy-based perks while planning ahead.

The Shapeshifters content isn’t just for Ultimate Team as it also ties into the Season Ladder, Evolutions, and visual customizations across other modes like Clubs. Expect wild position swaps, high OVRs, and expanded customization options across all 35 levels of the new pass.

Season Duration and Structure

Just like before, Season 8 is split into two versions of the ladder:

  • Standard Pass: Free for all players, with untradable rewards
  • Premium Pass: Costs 500,000 coins or 1,000 FC Points, with access to additional tradable rewards and exclusive Shapeshifters content

Instead of 40 tiers, this season has 35 levels, each unlocked by earning Season Points (SP) through gameplay. The shorter length means less time to hit max rank, so regular play is encouraged if you plan on claiming everything before July 10.

Premium Pass: What’s New?

The Premium Pass returns after debuting in Season 7, but Season 8 brings more variety in player choices, extra customization bundles, and a final-level reward that’s already grabbing attention. One of the top prizes this time is a 97-rated Shapeshifters Icon Kaká with five PlayStyle+ traits, making him one of the most stacked cards released so far.

Some of the highlights include:

  • Multiple Shapeshifters players to choose from
  • End-game Evolutions like Quickstep+ and Intercept+
  • Cosmetic bundles for Clubs
  • Tradable packs at nearly every level

It’s worth noting that the majority of Premium Pass rewards are tradable, which gives players a chance to sell valuable items and recover some of the coin cost over time.

Evolutions Updates for Season 8

Evolutions are once again part of the pass structure, offering both functional and cosmetic upgrades. Season 8 continues the trend of allowing players to unlock new PlayStyle+ traits, change player positions, and improve base stats.

Here are the PlayStyle+ Evolution limits for this season:

  • Standard Pass:
    • Max OVR: 95
    • Max PlayStyles: 9
    • Max PlayStyle+: 3
  • Premium Pass:
    • Max OVR: 96
    • Max PlayStyles: 9
    • Max PlayStyle+: 3

These restrictions are important to keep in mind if you’re planning to use certain Evolutions on boosted players, especially when aiming for high-tier custom builds.

PlayStyle+ Evolutions and Player Customization

As with previous seasons, several PlayStyle+ Evolutions are available as unlockables throughout the pass, including options like:

  • Block+
  • Quickstep+
  • Intercept+
  • Finesse Shot+
  • Spectrum Shift

You’ll also find position-based Evolutions that allow you to convert any player to LW or ST, opening up tactical flexibility as you build your squads.

The Evo system remains a core mechanic of FC 25’s Ultimate Team, giving players the ability to upgrade specific cards they enjoy rather than waiting for new promo versions.

Is It Worth Getting the Premium Pass?

For those who grind the game consistently, the Premium Pass still offers solid value, especially with tradable packs and high-rated players up for grabs. Cards like Tomori, Douglas Luiz, Maignan, and Tonali all appear at different stages, and most rewards offer player choice options or Evolution paths, so you’re not stuck with just one outcome.

On top of that, players who are looking to max out their SP will benefit from the extra bundles and SP boosts included at levels 6 and 20, speeding up progress toward the top-tier rewards.

What Else Is New?

Aside from the main pass structure, Clubs and Career Mode players can also benefit from some of the vanity items included in bundles throughout the levels. Expect new kits, tattoos, facemasks, and pitch items themed around the Shapeshifters aesthetic, all tied into the broader Season 8 vibe.

This might not be a huge update for those focused entirely on offline Career Mode, but it adds a bit more flavor to those diving into the visual aspects of their club or stadium.

With FC 25 nearing the end of its cycle, Season 8 looks like a fitting send-off before EA transitions into the next phase. The Shapeshifters theme offers some of the game’s most creative cards yet, and the shorter 35-level format makes the grind a bit more manageable.

If you’re still actively playing Ultimate Team, there’s plenty here to keep you going for the next month. And if not, this is probably the last real content push before we start hearing more about FC 26.
